WHAT IS PARENTING WISELY?

Parenting Wisely is a parenting program

that has been found to be highly effective

at increasing the use of good parenting methods

and parent’s knowledge about proper parenting skills,

improving family relations

and decreasing problem behaviors in children.

The program teaches parents skills and techniques

to help them better understand and deal with their children.

HOW DOES PARENTING WISELY WORK?

Text Box: “Don't worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you.”

~Robert Fulghum~

Parenting Wisely is an individually used, self-paced program on CD-ROM.  Parents have an opportunity to review, as many times as they like, parts of the program that were particularly useful or were unclear.  To gain a certificate of completion, participants go through the program twice with approximately 1 month between viewings.  No computer or reading skills are necessary to utilize the program.  All participants will receive a workbook to take home that reinforces what was learned on the CD- ROM.  The program is generally completed in 3-4 sessions.

Text Box: “There are only two lasting bequests
we can hope to give our children.
One of these is roots, the other, wings.”

“For only as we ourselves, as adults,

actually move and have our being in the state of love,

can we be appropriate models and guides for our children.

What we are teaches the child far more than what we say,

so we must be what we want our children to become”.

from Teaching Children to Love, introduction.
