WIC Program Director Joyneka Moals Honored with Patriot Award

During a recent meeting in Denton, Maryland, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program Director Joyneka Moals, was honored with the prestigious Patriot Award. The award was presented by Ron Pitts, Western Maryland Chair for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), in recognition of Moals’ outstanding support for National Guard and Reserve members and their families.

The Patriot Award acknowledges employers who demonstrate exceptional support for employees serving in the National Guard or Reserves. Ms. Moals was nominated for this honor by Rosa Castro, Senior Airman (Sr. A), 46th Aerial Port Squadron, United States Air Force Reserve, Dover, Delaware. In her nomination, Castro commended Moals, saying, “Moals was very supportive and understanding of her mission in the Reserves.”

During the presentation, Pitts noted that only five percent of employers of service members receive the Patriot Award, making this recognition all the more significant.

The ESGR, a volunteer organization under the Department of Defense, was established to uphold the employment and reemployment rights of National Guard and Reserve service members, ensuring that they are treated fairly in the workplace.

Congratulations to Joyneka Moals for this well-deserved honor and for her continued support of those who serve our nation!
