DENTON, MD (November 1, 2024) – The Maryland Commission on Public Health is excited to announce the launch of a Public Engagement Survey designed to hear directly from Maryland residents and people who work in Maryland about how they receive health information. This online survey is part of a statewide initiative to improve health communication and address gaps in health access for all communities.
The feedback collected from this survey will play a critical role in helping the Maryland Commission on Public Health understand how Marylanders access health-related information and which communication methods are most effective. Understanding where people turn for health information, whether through digital media, community events, local news, or health care providers, is essential to ensuring everyone in Maryland can access the resources they need to make informed health decisions.
Ensuring equitable access to accurate and relevant health information is key to building healthier communities. Collecting perspectives from residents in rural, suburban, and urban areas—across diverse ages, races, and backgrounds—is essential to addressing the unique needs of communities statewide. This survey is a chance for Marylanders across all backgrounds and regions to share their perspectives and ensure that public health partners can continue their work to make health information accessible to all.

More information about the Commission
The Maryland Commission on Public Health was established in 2023 to study and make recommendations to improve Maryland’s public health system. The 16-member body is comprised of local health officers, academic partners, thought leaders, and legislators. The Maryland Department of Health is represented by the Deputy Secretary for Public Health Services, the Deputy Secretary for Behavioral Health, and the Director of the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities. Many additional leaders and professionals are contributing to the Commission’s five workgroups. The Commission’s goal is to ensure the public health system is designed to help all Marylanders achieve their best health and a lifetime of wellness. Meetings are held monthly and streamed online.
