Mid-Shore WIC Enjoys Great Turnout at Local Community Baby Showers

July 6, 2023

Mid-Shore WIC, a local organization providing nutritional support for women, infants, and children, made a significant impact at the Talbot and Dorchester County Health Departments’ recent Community Baby Showers.

The events, held on Saturday, June 10, in Easton, Maryland, and Thursday, June 29, in Cambridge, Maryland, were resounding successes, drawing in new and expectant families eager to learn, connect with community resources, and win valuable baby gear.

At the Talbot County event, held at 102 Marlboro Avenue in Easton, participants had the opportunity to visit various stations that covered essential pregnancy and child health topics. By engaging with these stations, attendees received raffle tickets that could be entered into a selection of exciting prize drawings. Prizes ranged from practical items such as diaper bags, baby wipes, and thermometers to special door prizes, including strollers and pack and plays.

Mid-Shore WIC Program Administrator, Joyneka Moals, presented attendees with a wealth of information about WIC’s extensive range of services, including breastfeeding support, nutrition education, nutrition supplemental benefits, and information about community referrals and eligibility. She also had the pleasure of conversing with current WIC participants, who shared their personal success stories and expressed gratitude for the services provided by Mid-Shore WIC. Additionally, numerous new faces expressed interest in applying for WIC services, indicating a growing awareness of the program’s importance in the community.

The Dorchester County Community Baby Shower, held at the Chesapeake Grove Intergenerational Center on Chesapeake Street in Cambridge, offered a similar experience for attendees, with Mid-Shore WIC once again delivering valuable insights and support.

Mid-Shore WIC expresses heartfelt appreciation to all those involved in organizing these remarkable events and looks forward to participating in next year’s Community Baby Showers. Through continued collaboration and community engagement, Mid-Shore WIC remains dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to families across the region.
